Amber Fillerup Instagram: Fillerup is a beauty and fashion blogger who runs the blog "Barefoot Blonde." In addition to running her own hair extension company, Fillerup has become part of a new industry in which social media influencers are paid by companies to represent their brands and products. Aerie Instagram: Social trends that are popular on social media are reaching the fashion industry. A body positivity movement has exploded in recent years, with celebrities and companies embracing the trend. One such brand is clothing retailer Aerie, who has worked to implement practices such as hiring models of all sizes and races, as well as refusing to photoshop pictures for advertisements. Marina Rinaldi Instagram: Similar to Aerie, Marina Rinaldi's brand has joined the body positivity movement. They sell clothes that are made of women of all shapes and sizes, particularly curvy women. James Charles Instagram: James Charles got his start as a social media influencer. His YouTube channel gained so much notoriety, he became the first male spokesperson for cosmetics brand CoverGirl, and now runs his own multi million-dollar company. Similar to Amber Fillerup, James Charles is paid to promote brands on Instagram. In the featured Instagram post, James Charles was offered an opportunity to attend the Met Gala and promote the designer who chose to dress him, Alexander Wang. Stella McCartney Instagram: Recently, a popular topic within the fashion industry is just how wasteful fashion is. This lack of environmental friendliness has become a trending topic on social media, and many brands and designers have made efforts improve. Vogue Magazine Instagram: In this post from Vogue, the fashion house Rodarte is featured. The post discusses Rodarte and the designers decision to completely forgo a traditional runway show. Instead, their new line was posted onto the Rodarte website, as well as a variety of multimedia platforms. Julie Sarinana Instagram: Julie Sarinana is one of the most popular social media influencers in the fashion industry. Not only is she paid to promote brands and products in her posts, she has also been involved in multiple collaborations with major brands. Nordstrom Instagram: Nordstrom has been and continues to be one of the most major fashion retailers in the industry. They, like many other retailers, regularly pay social media influencers to feature the Nordstrom in their posts, even going as far as to offer design collaborations.
